Navigating the Recruitment Process

The recruitment process for many hopeful candidates is not an easy one, to say the least.  The process is not only time-consuming but poses many obstacles along the way.  Should your CV be one page or two? How much detail is required? Skills and strengths?  Tailor the CV to a specific role? Showcase achievements?  Provide references?  The list is endless…  However, experts say there are some golden rules for getting a CV correct, not least accuracy, spelling, and grammar.

Recruiters often discuss reviewing a fabulous CV with little or no contact information!  Always ensure your CV includes key information - contact details, including name, phone number, and email address.

In today’s changing landscape, employers received on average 100 applications for every advertisement for a low-skilled job and 24 for every skilled role. Significantly, almost half if not more of these candidates are perfectly suitable for the role, so how can you stand out from the crowd?

Each role will vary but for specific career sectors and Senior Appointments training, qualifications and career development are essential to make the shortlist.   For others, qualifications accredited by a professional body carry a stamp of approval and can have a positive benefit and enhance employability.

Businesses want to employ professionals who not only have up-to-date technical knowledge but also have skills to complete a project on time and within budget, the communication skills to understand customer needs and a range of other competencies needed to be successful in their careers.

Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is looked on favorably by employers as employing an individual who has embarked on a development strategy ultimately adds value, enhances effectiveness with up-to-date knowledge and trends, and above all profitability!

During the last 4 months, more employers have encouraged staff to embark on upskilling and attending online training, those that heeded the advice will most definitely be in a stronger position when applying for roles today.

CPD is an investment for the future, not only does it improve your employability but increases income and opportunities in emerging markets and helps achieve your career goals.

There are many other factors that an employer will consider before making the ultimate decision however applying some if not all the above should make you stand out from the crowd…
