You only have seven seconds to make a good impression, so if you are going to a job interview you need to feel and look confident. Not so easy if you are a woman who has been out of the workplace for a while or if you are trying to land your first job.
Smart Works is a UK based charity that was set up to help women in this situation. It provides high-quality interview clothes (all of which have been donated by other women), styling advice and interview training to women in need. The charity gives women the confidence, the self-belief and the practical tools they require to succeed at interview and start a new chapter of their life.
At the core of their service is a dressing and interview appointment at one of the Smart Works centres. During her visit, each woman receives a high-quality interview outfit (hers to keep) tailored to her taste and style by the Smart Works’ stylists. This is followed by dedicated one-to-one interview training with an experienced recruitment, HR or coaching professional. What an amazing idea!
Earlier this month Victor’s Hale played host to ‘The Hale Way’, a lunch in support of the charity. The lunch raised over £600 and was sponsored by Halecroft Recruitment whose offices on Victoria Road in Hale will be a ‘Drop Off’ point for clothing between 2nd May and 16th May.
Commenting on the event, Tricia Bullman, MD of Halecroft explained her involvement,
“We recognise the importance of helping women return to the workplace. Both clothing and interview technique is essential. We are delighted to be supporting this wonderful charity.”
Commenting on the day, Fiona Gunnion, Manager of Smart Works, Manchester said,
“A very big thank you for a wonderful lunch and event to spread the message of Smart Works. I met some fabulous people all offering their support.”
All guests received a ‘Goody bag’, courtesy of Hob Salon, Hale. The event was organized by Hale-based company, Marketing Profile.
